ZAGREB, Croatia – Serbian guards at the Omarska concentration camp in Bosnia daily executed Bosniak and Croat prisoners from the thousands being held in at least three locations in the sprawling former mining complex, according to an interview conducted by Newsday Tuesday.
Guards selected seven or eight victims at random each night using a flashlight in a darkened warehouse where 600 to 700 prisoners were packed together, according to a 53-year-old Muslim camp survivor, who asked to be identified only as “Hujca.” Read the rest of this entry »
The small village of Kevljani witnessed horrendous acts of massacres during the Bosnian genocide. The village is within walking distance of Omarska mine where, in 1992, an estimated 6,000 local Bosniak (Bosnian Muslim) men and boys, together with women, were detained, interrogated, tortured, raped, starved and many of them killed by Serbian nationalist camp guards.

NEW YORK — Former Bosnian Serb leader and indicted war criminal Radovan Karadzic has been ordered by a U.S. jury to pay $4.5 billion in damages for atrocities committed by his soldiers. The jury and judge hearing the civil case against Karadzic, who remains an international fugitive, said Monday that the United States can’t ignore genocide a world away. “It’s very important that the United States of America rises to the occasion when these things happen and we just don’t wait for the United Nations’ war crimes tribunal,” Judge Peter K. Serb Guard Arrested on Genocide Charges

BONN, Germany — The federal prosecutor’s office announced Monday the arrest of one of the most notorious guards at a Bosnian-Serb concentration camp on charges of complicity in genocide against Bosnian Muslims [Bosniaks].
